Upgrade of Spit Bridge

Fergusons Marina The Spit Mosman

As Sydney continues to grow so does the continual traffic as commuters travel from the Northern Beaches to the city or vice versa. The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) has recently announced a upgrade of the Spit Bridge a project which is expected to cost $10.6 million and is fully funded by the NSW Government, the project is expected to commence on July 2011 and is expected to be completed by mid 2012.

The work to be carried out includes installing new electrical cables and a new drive system. The new drive system will take place of the existing system.

The RTA has advies that to enable this work to occur, the bridge will need to be fully closed to marine traffic for approximately twelve consecutive days. To minimise disruptions to marine traffic, the RTA plan to consult with boat owners and operators and NSW Maritime to help them program this work. The RTA have also started a consultation consult list to receive regular updates please email spit.bridge@conneq.com.au.

Please note that the RTA will let boaties know in advance of road and bridge closures as soon as this work is scheduled and the dates are known.
